What exactly is TyrFil™ Flatproofing?

TyrFil™ Flatproofing is a polyurethane tire fill that replaces the air in Off-the-Road (OTR) tires. It cures into a flexible, shock-absorbing elastomer core that prevents flats and delivers a smoother, more reliable ride.

TyrFil is pumped into a pneumatic tire, completely displacing the air. The product then cures to form a resilient elastomer core that maintains tire pressure, absorbs impacts, and eliminates the risk of punctures.

TyrFil eliminates flats, reduces downtime, extends tire life, and lowers maintenance costs. It also minimizes vibrations, which enhances operator comfort and safety.

For over 50 years, Carlisle TyrFil has led the industry with innovative tire flatproofing solutions, processing over one billion pounds of product worldwide.

Our solutions are used across construction, mining, agriculture, industrial operations, rental fleets, OEM applications, and even military settings—anywhere equipment durability and reliability are paramount.

We offer several formulations tailored to various conditions:

TyrFil™ Flex (Low Durometer) for maximum deflection and an air-like ride,

TyrFil™ Pro (Medium Durometer) for general-purpose applications,

TyrFil™ Ultra (Medium Durometer with enhanced heat dissipation) for severe conditions, and

TyrFil™ HeviDuty (High Durometer) for extreme heavy-load scenarios.

Select a formula based on your equipment’s load, operating conditions, and performance requirements. Our technical guides and online tools can help you determine the best match.

Yes, tires filled with TyrFil™ flatproofing can be retreaded up to four times without compromising performance, extending tire life and reducing replacement costs.

By reducing G-force and vibration transmission, TyrFil minimizes Whole Body Vibration (WBV), lowering the risk of back pain, fatigue, and other stress-related injuries for operators. Learn more about operator safety here

Our flatproofing system extends tire life, reduces waste, and is part of a closed-loop recycling program that cuts petrochemical use—saving money and reducing environmental impact.

ReSeal™ is a tire sealant used when equipment is exposed to occasionally harsh conditions. It seals  punctures up to ½ inch. It is also a great option to use to extend tire life in hard to find tire sizes.

No – the added weight lowers the center of gravity and reduces wheel slippage, boosting overall safety.

No, once a tire is filled with TyrFil, further pressure adjustments are unnecessary.

Where permitted, vehicles can run at 55 mph (90 kph) for up to 4 hours, or continuously at 38 mph (60 kph).

Not at all – the durable, elastomer core actually extends tire life and minimizes wear.

No, once cured, TyrFil forms a resilient elastomer core that prevents leaks.

No, the load capacity remains as specified by the tire manufacturer.

TyrFil-filled tires deliver a smoother, more comfortable ride, improved traction, lower heat buildup, and better fuel efficiency than solid aperture tires.

Pneumatic tires filled with TyrFil can safely operate in extreme conditions, from -36°F (-60°C) up to 320°F (160°C).

TyrFil fully cures within 24 to 48 hours, making your tire ready for trouble-free operation.
